Led MN thru I35W bridge collapse: 145 people injured

When the 35W bridge collapsed, Mn/DOT staff indicated that the bridge had been inspected in recent years and no major problems had been discovered. That information would turn out to be inaccurate. Ultimately, after an exhaustive investigation, the NTSB concluded the bridge fell because of an original design flaw dating back to the 1960s.

When faced with a disaster or crisis of any kind, a leader needs to show up. A leader needs to be visible.
A leader needs to take command or control of his or her operations.
If there are extraordinary measures that need to be taken, take them. Usually a leader has been given authority ahead of time to act within proper parameters of executive powers. Don't wait. Act.
