Support right of working class to own and bear arms

Right to bear arms needed for oppressed people

Many workers have died at the hands of the local police, the Army and privately hired goons. Workers and citizens will most likely need access to guns for defense, since the wealthy and corporate power can be counted on to use all manner of violence to prevent any radical or revolutionary change that would mean their overthrow or loss of power & control. Socialists believe in the inalienable right of exploited & oppressed people to self-defense, thus, we support the right of all citizens to bear arm

Gun rights apply only to states, not individuals

The right to own firearms is not protected by the Bill of Rights, which refers to the right of each state to maintain a militia - not to the right of any citizen to own a loaded automatic weapon. I will work for a system of lincensed gun ownership and an end in the sale of automatic weapons which cannot meet any reasonable standard for hunting. The National Rifle Association may control Congress but it does not control the Socialist Party.
