Teri Hourihan on Jobs

Don't require hiring women & minorities

Q: Your opinion on "Legally require hiring women & minorities"?

A: No. I believe hiring should be fair, inclusive, and based on an individual's qualifications, experience, skills, and ability to perform the job. Women and minorities should have equal access to employment opportunities and be protected from discrimination, but I do not believe the law should require employers to hire someone based on their gender, race, or ethnicity. Fair opportunity and nondiscrimination should be required; selecting an individual because of a protected characteristic should not be.
