Supports abolishing the federal Department of Education

The more education is locally controlled and provided, the better it is for children and families. Educational choice is imperative for families to give their children the best possible education. The federal government has no place in education. All restrictions and barriers that make it more difficult for families should be removed. I will also support abolishing the federal Department of Education, while block-granting funds at a per-pupil cost to each state over a 10-year phase out period. Source: 2022 N.D. Fully state-funded college tuition worst idea in the world

Becker completely ruled out the possibility of having fully state-funded college education, saying it was the "worst idea in the world." He said he reasons it would put all private institutions out of business and that it would devalue a college degree. Education Empowerment Program: reimburse private schools

Established an Education Empowerment Program administered by the Department of Public Instruction that would reimburse parents of children attending public or private schools for instructional or therapeutic needs (e.g., assistance with dyslexia schooling, additional courses otherwise unavailable).

Replace Common Core with local parent & teacher control

K-12--Bring local control to the parents and teachers by removing North Dakota from Common Core and work toward parent choice in education.
Higher Education--Demand accountability. Address unrestrained growth in spending and severely unbalanced reciprocity programs which place unfair burdens on North Dakota taxpayers.
