And we have to be strong, and we have to be strong both in Ukraine, and we can solve the Southern border. Absolutely, we can do that, because guess what? There's only 19,855 authorized people for the Border Patrol. But they're not all staffed, because the Biden administration doesn't enforce law enforcement. But the Biden administration wanted to put 87,000 people in the IRS, as opposed to giving the money and the support we need to our own Border Patrol. Sending National Guard to Texas strengthens border security

States are addressing border crisis ignored by Feds

And we pray for the safety of our North Dakota National Guard soldiers that are stationed both at home and abroad. And when I say at home, I mean including in Texas, securing our southwest border. Strongly opposes transporting migrants to North Dakota

In a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Gov. Doug Burgum stressed his opposition to the transfer of detained migrants from the southern border to North Dakota being considered by DHS:

"As a northern border state, we have seen unsettling media reports that North Dakota is being considered by DHS officials as a site for the relocation of migrants detained at the south Texas border. Our administration does not support the transfer to North Dakota of migrants who have entered the US without permission. While our state willingly participates in the resettlement of legal, thoroughly vetted refugees, we strongly oppose any efforts to alleviate the southern border crisis of the overwhelming influx of migrants by transporting them to northern border states. We urge the administration to address this crisis at the source, fully enforce federal immigration laws, and reassure northern border states that relocation is not on the table."

Consider filing a lawsuit over refugee resettlement

Burgum said, "when North Dakota withdrew from the federal refugee resettlement program, the Federal Government, with questionable authority to do so, selected the non-profit Lutheran Social Services to oversee the refugee program in North Dakota. While I have tremendous compassion for these refugees, this action amounts to federal overreach. Filing a lawsuit against the federal government shouldn't be taken lightly, but it is certainly an option that deserves consideration and debate."
