Misam Abidi on Homeland Security

Peace through strength, nut military is last resort

Q: Your opinion on "Peace through Strength"?

A: Support. A capable military can deter aggression, but real national strength includes far more than weapons. It includes resilient infrastructure, domestic manufacturing, energy independence, cybersecurity, economic stability, strong alliances, disciplined diplomacy, and properly supported service members and veterans. Strength is not proven by how frequently a nation goes to war. It is proven by whether that nation can protect its people, prevent aggression, and pursue peace without weakness or fear. Military force must remain a last resort rather than becoming the first instrument of foreign policy.
