Zach Lahn on Corporations

We should be prioritizing our home grown companies

Q: What is something you will do on day one to make Iowa affordable?

Lahn: Just yesterday the president signed an executive order that will reduce diesel price for people in the Ag industry by 57 cents a gallon. Now going into harvest, we will see that gas prices are coming down, this will save $100 per fill-up when you're talking about hauling grain. We have to make sure we are growing the economy with Iowa's home grown businesses. We have great businesses in our state. We should be prioritizing those businesses and not big out of state projects that are not employing people, like data centers. I call to eliminate all tax breaks from data centers and instead prioritize those with Iowa's home grown companies.

Sand: I think we can cap the fees that utilities are charging their customers. We don't want to see people tightening their own belt using less electricity and having the utility companies come out and increase fees instead.
