Ken Spaulding on Government Reform
Voter ID law is really a Voter Suppression law
Voting is the cornerstone of a state's or a country's democracy. The unfettered and unabridged right to vote is crucial to a free and meaningful election. There have always been efforts to discourage voter participation by some and to make it
easier for voter participation by others. The US Supreme Court and the US Congress have all had to step in and stop these unconstitutional actions.
I want to make it crystal clear, as a citizen, as an attorney, as a person who marched for
all of our voting rights in 1964 and 1965, and as a proponent for all North Carolinians to exercise their important and sacred constitutional right to vote in an unabridged manner; to me, this is not a VOTER ID law, this is a VOTER SUPPRESSION law.
There was no documented evidence of voter fraud to warrant such an unconstitutional intrusion into the lives of every North Carolinian.
