Sharon Hansen on Abortion

Life begins at conception, but listen to constituents

Question topic: Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Hansen: Agree

Question topic: Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

Hansen: I personally am against abortion; however, should a vote come up while I am in office, I would ask my constituents where they are on this issue and ask them to let my office know. I would then vote based on the majority of the responses my office received. If elected, it would be my job to represent the people and not my personal beliefs.

Personally opposes abortion, but decision up to each woman

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Abortion is a woman's right"?

A: I personally oppose abortion since it is the taking of an innocent life; however, there are some situations where it may be appropriate. I don't believe it is the Federal government's job to make abortion legal or illegal. In my opinion, it is between a woman, her doctor and God. I think all the money that is spent on lobbying for and against abortion would be better spent on trying to figure out a way to take an embryo from one woman who doesn't want a baby and implant the embryo in someone who does. I am firmly against second and third trimester abortions. Abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. Anyone who thinks it's okay to have an abortion should also be okay with using birth control.
