Raise teacher salaries; build more schools

We have a plan to teach children that does not look at test scores only but also teaching children how to think critically and on the fly. We've got start funding the technology to bring our schools into the 21st century. We've got to raise teacher salaries and start building more schools and colleges and not just prisons. The long term vision of American competitiveness must begin with the priorities of the future. Our teachers know how to teach and we can't evaluate them based on a test score.

Don't cut funding to underperforming schools

Reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, without No Child Left Behind. The No Child Left Behind Act has caused teachers to focus on preparation for a standardized test, at the expense of a well rounded, experiential education. Funding is revoked from schools whose students "underperform" on the test; it is exactly the underperforming schools that need funding to gain access to resources that would allow them to improve education. This policy hurts schools in areas of low income.
