Illegal play a crucial role in Georgia's economy

llegal immigrants play a crucial role in Georgia's agriculture, construction and hospitality industries and this contribution needs to be recognized when we craft the final legislative solution. We must find a fair, practical and reasonable way to address the invaluable economic and cultural contributions made by illegal immigrants without continuing to allow the utter flaunting of the law at every turn of cheek. I do not believe that we need to give automatic amnesty to either businesses or employees who continue to profit from breaking the law directly, but I believe that we can structure a law that grants legal status to many of the undocumented immigrants who are already living and working here. I support a system that gives legal status to those who are willing to go to the very back of the line for citizenship, pay taxes, pay a fine, learn English, not commit crimes, and then only after all those conditions are met would they be granted the opportunity to stay legally in the US.
