Kevin Cramer on Gun Control |
I also fully support US Senate Bill 2205, which prohibits the US from funding any UN Arms Trade Treaty that restricts our 2nd Amendment rights. Furthermore, I support the national Right-to-Carry reciprocity legislation, which would recognize a person's right to carry a firearm while traveling throughout the US if a person is licensed to carry a firearm by any state.
Not only does the idea of banning firearms violate basic rights, it contradicts common sense. Increasing government restrictions and regulations on gun-owners infringes upon innocent citizens' rights to self-protection and constitutes a waste of limited government resources, since criminals obtain firearms without complying with such requirements.

Project Vote Smart summarizes candidate stances on the following topic: 'Guns: Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?'

Supporters reasons for voting YEA: (NRA Institute for Legal Action, 1/16/15): Current federal law guarantees the right of law-abiding persons to transport firearms, regardless of state or local laws. Unfortunately, anti-gun local officials are using overly restrictive state licensing laws to harass and prosecute travelers who have made every effort to comply with the law, resulting in seized guns and sometimes arrests. HR 131 would make clear that I, including activities incidental to the trip such as temporary lodging.
Opponents reasons for voting NAY: (PopVox blog postings on HR 131):
