Vetoed plan to cut $400 million from public schools
Anyone who knows me knows that education is my top priority. I had to veto a Republican plan to cut $400 million from our schools. Despite inheriting huge deficits, I was able to restore our state's commitment to fund two-thirds of the cost of public
education--helping take the burden off property taxpayers. I am also fighting to lower class sizes and expand access to 4-year-old kindergarten. Finally, I believe the time has come to require a third year of math and science for high school graduation.
