Three principles of a moral foreign policy
I believe there ought to be three principles in American foreign policy.
America is called to use its power abroad, and to use it wisely to promote freedom, and that obligation is greater now that the Cold War is over.
America’s foreign policy and our domestic policy are morally inseparable. What we do abroad will always reveal what we are at home.
While foreign trade is important, it [shouldn’t be the] goal of diplomacy. Trade ought to follow diplomacy, not diplomacy following trade.
