Resist legalization; incarcerate chronic users

We must firmly resist the legalization of narcotics, including marijuana and other “soft” drugs. I support incarceration of narcotics offenders, including chronic users. We must be alert to new forms and patterns of drug abuse, such as the disturbing plague of methamphetamines in the American heartland. We need to encourage the use of faith-based rehabilitation programs, and redouble our efforts to interdict the flow of drugs across our borders.

Stop drugs at the border; pressure Mexico to help

[We should] redouble our efforts to interdict the flow of drugs across our borders. In particular, I would suspend certification of Mexico as a cooperating partner in the fight against drugs until that country’s authorities fulfill their commitment to cooperate with the U. S. Government in the capture and prosecution of trans-national drug dealers.
