Gary Cordery on Government Reform

Ban political donations from local unions & national PACs

Act 11 attempts to reign in corporate campaign spending. This is a political stunt and does not address the political donations from local Unions or national Pacs such as Act Blue. These donations can influence politicians creating an invitation for corruption. These donations should be banned. Our office of transparency and audits, along with whistleblowers will limit the culture of corruption, restore trust and integrity with the AG and prosecutions.

Supports line-item veto for unrelated amendments

Q: What is your philosophy for how and when to use line-item veto power?

A: Line-item veto power should be used when laws are submitted that violate the constitutional rights of people or that promote special interests at the cost of the citizens or do not reflect the will of the people. Many bills may have good intentions but amendments may be added that have little to do with the proposed bill.
