Steve Russell on Abortion

I will fight abortion with all my being; I adopted instead

The government's job is to protect life, liberty and property. Sadly, the Roe vs Wade decision has authorized the elimination of 40 million innocent Americans whose voices have been silenced. I will fight abortion with all my being.

I worked hard on Adoption Reform laws while in the state senate to promote adoption and fight human trafficking. Three of my five children were adopted from Hungary as orphaned siblings. I know what it means to promote adoption and support the right to life.

Someone will love every unwanted child

Question topic: Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Russell: Strongly Agree.

Question topic: Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

Russell: I can think of no circumstance. Three of my five children are adopted. For every unwanted child, there is someone that will love them and claim them as their own.

Include pre-born human beings in 14th Amendment protection.

Russell co-sponsored H.R.816/S.2464

A bill to implement equal protection under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States for the right to life of each born and preborn human person.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, to implement equal protection for the right to life of each born and preborn human person, the Congress hereby declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being.

Nothing in this Act shall be construed to require the prosecution of any woman for the death of her unborn child, a prohibition on in vitro fertilization, or a prohibition on use of birth control or another means of preventing fertilization.

In this Act, the terms `human person` and `human being` include each member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization or cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.
