Megan Degenfelder on Civil Rights

Championed Wyoming's ban on transgender athletes

She championed Wyoming's ban on transgender athletes from high school into college and led Wyoming's involvement in a multistate Title IX lawsuit, making clear that "in Wyoming, we protect our girls… in bathrooms, in education, in sports. Period." She recently co-authored an op-ed with Congresswoman Harriet Hageman on protecting women's sports.

DEI shifted from worthy pursuit to contentious battleground

In recent years, DEI--Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion--has shifted from a worthy pursuit into a contentious political battleground. What started as an effort to better include historically marginalized groups has, unfortunately, devolved into a means to inject political and divisive ideologies into educational institutions. I have watched with concern as DEI initiatives across the nation, and even within our own state, have strayed from their original mission.
