Expand access to abortion later in pregnancy post-Dobbs

LD1619: An Act to Improve Maine's Reproductive Privacy Laws:

Summary by ACLU Maine in support, October 25, 2023: Against a landscape of increasing attacks on sexual and reproductive healthcare nationwide, several new laws take effect today in Maine that protect and expand access to abortion and related care. Laws that take effect include LD 1619, legislation that makes Maine the first state in the country to expand access to abortion later in pregnancy post-Dobbs. LD 1619 also removed criminal penalties attached to abortion care and no other medical procedure and updated the state's antiquated abortion data collection requirements.

Legislative Outcome:Passed House 73-69-9 on Jun/27/23; State Rep. Ed Crockett voted YES; passed Senate 20-11-4 on Jul/6/23; signed by Governor Janet Mills on Jul/19/23.
