John Barrow on Social Security

Democratic Representative (GA-12)

Stop raiding the Social Security Trust Fund

Congress ought to stop raiding the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for other programs, a practice that has helped put this crucial fund in danger of going bankrupt. Barrow will oppose schemes to privatize Social Security and any effort to increase the eligibility age for Social Security or Medicare. He will fight to protect workers’ investments in pensions and retirement savings. He will work for tougher laws to prevent the abuses at Enron, WorldCom, and Tyco that threaten workers’ retirement accounts
