Ban DREAMer immigrants from military service

Analysis by Heritage Action: The MANVI program is a pilot program authorizing "military services to recruit certain legal immigrants whose skills are considered to be vital to the national interest." However, a DoD memo has made it clear that DACA/DAPA recipients are eligible under this program, essentially opening up a pathway to amnesty for illegal aliens who enlist. By ensuring that this guidance ends, DOD will no longer be able to enlist illegal immigrants through MAVNI.

Reform immigration piecemeal, focusing on economic needs

• Reform the legal immigration system. Such reforms would ensure that those who wish to come here legally can do so in a fair and efficient manner.
• Make immigration more responsive to the needs of the economy. Such efforts should include a targeted temporary worker program tied to market and workforce demands that would supply a rotating, temporary workforce.
• Reinvigorate interior enforcement measures: measures and programs such as Social Security No Match, random workplace inspections, checks of I-9 forms, and E-Verify.
• Enhance border security efforts, through the use of technologies like unmanned aerial vehicles and cameras/sensors.
• Recognize state and local authorities as responsible partners.
