Pete Coors on Tax Reform

2004 former Republican Senate Challenger (CO)

Keep Bush tax cuts and extend estate tax reprieve

Coors said he would vote to keep the president’s recent tax cuts in place and fight to extend the estate-tax reprieve that is set to expire in 2011. The estate tax applies to transfer of property or businesses after death of the owner and only applies when the value of assets reaches $1 million or above, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

Coloradans know best how to spend their own money

Q: Should the tax cuts approved during the Bush administration be made permanent?

A: Yes. You can’t create jobs, and you can’t create real opportunity, by taxing your way to a stronger economy. I’m a tax cutter. And, I’m proud of it. Because I believe that Coloradans know best how to spend their own money. In order to be a tax cutter, you’ve got to have discipline on the other side. You’ve got to restrain spending. This is common sense. Every Coloradan must live within a budget.

Proud to be a tax cutter

You can’t create jobs, and you can’t create real opportunity, by taxing your way to a stronger economy. With free people in unburdened, free markets you can spark real opportunity with two simple words: tax relief. I’m a tax cutter. And I’m proud of it.
