Lynne Walz on Free Trade

Tariffs hurt our farmers; open up existing markets

Walz said bringing in more revenue and economic value can help fill budget gaps. Her comments come as a wave of employees leave Pillen's Department of Economic Development.

"That would be an immediate action that we would take--aggressively fund and restore funding to our economic development department, so they can do the job that they need to do," Walz said. "When it comes to agriculture, we know that tariffs are hurting our farmers, and we want to do everything that we can to open up existing markets and new markets that will make farming profitable again for our farmers and ranchers."
