Rick Sikma on Education

Republican Senate Challenger

Supports choosing schools via vouchers

Q: Do you support or oppose the policy: "Parents choose schools via vouchers"?

A: SUPPORT: Parents must be empowered to choose the type and style of education available for their children. This will also promote a healthy sense of competition between schools and challenge them to provide a higher quality of education.

Prayer should be allowed in public schools

Yes, I believe prayer should be allowed in public schools. Our children need serious help, and the statistics speak for themselves. Since 1962 when prayer was removed, the rise in teen pregnancy, STD's, drop outs, drug use, and kids shooting kids has risen out of control to the detriment of our society today. Local governments need to be empowered to give parents and teachers more authority within the school system.
