Q: Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

A: I am currently a State Representative, representing part of Detroit Michigan. I sit on the appropriations committee where I've worked tirelessly to strengthen Detroit public schools, helping pass a budget that provided the most per-pupil funding in Michigan history. I'm also so proud to have gotten hundreds of millions in mental health funding, bringing critical resources to Michigan. I've also fought to protect voting rights of Michiganders, address racial and economic inequality, and more.

I'm running for U.S. Congress in Michigan's 13th District, to fight for my community at the federal level, to work on things like universal healthcare, closing the wealth gap, address inflation and cost of living, and provide relief to everyday Americans and working families.

Right to see a doctor without worrying about how to pay

Everyone has the right to see a doctor when they are sick, without worrying about how they'll pay for it. That's why my ultimate goal is a single-payer healthcare system, like Medicare for All. COVID further highlighted the disparities in the healthcare system, particularly for black and brown Americans. It's time to fix that.
