Mary Peltola on Foreign Policy

I think it's so important that we stand with Ukraine

Q: Should the United States have Ukraine's back?

Peltola: I think it's so important that we stand with Ukraine and our allies. We have been making new adversaries out of our traditional allies across the globe. You see this with Ukraine. I think we should be doing everything in our power to help support them, not bolstering up Russia. our aid to Ukraine should be continually evaluated and used effectively and efficiently so that Alaskans' money is spent responsibly while we support our allies.

Sullivan: I've been one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine since the war began. and i work closely with the Biden administration. when they put forward a supplemental package to the congress for Ukraine. I shaped that. I led the effort to get that over the goal line in the senate, even when president trump, who wasn't in office at the time, was opposing it. so I've been a strong supporter of Ukraine.

We have real enemies, world is like the Cold War

I honestly think one of the biggest threats to the United States of America is our own partisanship. The way that we tear each other down, politically, is a tremendous threat and it makes our enemies nothing but happy. We have formidable enemies, we have real enemies. Having grown up in the Cold War, I have a very strong sense now that we are living in a world that is very much like the Cold War that I grew up in in the '80s.
