Voted for the PRO (Protecting the Right to Organize) Act

About 40 people gathered outside federal offices in Sioux City to call for the passage of the PRO (Protecting the Right to Organize) Act. Finkenauer said she was proud to vote for the PRO Act while in Congress. "If you send me to the United States Senate, I am going to make sure we get this bill passed," Finkenauer said. Opposed state bill reducing collective bargaining rights

The Republican-led state legislature, in February 2017, voted to reduce collective-bargaining rights for some 180,000 public employees. Conservatives celebrated the move as a win for taxpayers and managers in local government, but Finkenauer gave an impassioned floor speech condemning the bill. "You had a lot of union guys who had voted Republican who just saw their rights gutted, their health-care rights, their wages, all of it," Finkenauer tells me.
