Charles McCall on Foreign Policy

Don't allow foreign adversaries to purchase land in state

Senate Bill 1705, by state Sen. Brent Howard and House Speaker Charles McCall, amended existing state law that restricts foreign-land ownership in Oklahoma to specify that no "foreign government adversary" may purchase land in Oklahoma and defined that term to include any country designated by the United States Secretary of State as hostile or a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

Oklahoma has reaffirmed our state's support for Israel

Press release: "Speaker McCall Condemns Latest Attack on Israel": "Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran, a sponsor of terrorist organizations and supporters of Hamas, launched an attack on the Nation of Israel that included both drones and ballistic missiles. In the strongest terms, and with decisive action, the US must condemn this attack and support our ally, Israel. The Oklahoma House has passed multiple resolutions reaffirming our state's support for Israel, and today we stand strong with them."

Oklahoma should not support anti-Israel boycott

Legislative Summary: HB 3967 declares that Israel is a prominent trading partner of the State of Oklahoma and that the state should not boycott Israel [referring to the BDS movement, "Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions"]. The measure prohibit the state from entering into any contract with a company unless the company submits a written certification that the company is not currently engaged in a boycott of goods or services from Israel.

Recommendation to vote NO by CAIR-Oklahoma (Council on American-Islamic Relations): The State cannot put conditions on public contracts that require a written allegiance to another specific country. This bill is not about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. It is an attempt to stifle free speech in our communities.

Legislative Outcome: Passed House 75-20-5 on Mar/3/20; Passed Senate 36-7-4 on May/15/20; Charles McCall voted YES; Signed by Governor Kevin Stitt on May/21/20
