Government support of science crucial to growth and survival

Research science explores what worked in the past, what is working now and what may work in the future. It is unlikely that we can make reasonable decisions without knowledge of its observations, and analyses. It represents human curiosity to solve problems and understand what we and our world are about.

Being well informed is a starting point for discovering something new. Science does not have all the answers, but like education it is necessary for us to find them. Government support of science is crucial to our society's growth and survival. Like our democracy itself, it is based on discussion and debate of opinions and facts. Once an agreed upon position is reached as a basis for action, it will be further mulled and modified by experience and our changing needs..
