Sam Granato on Civil Rights |
Lee says there's no question those who want to build the mosque have the right to do so; that's not up for debate, he said. "I'm certainly sympathetic to those who have expressed a viewpoint that this is right at Ground Zero," Lee said.
Granato says the freedom to practice one's own religion is one of the most precious rights Americans have. "I believe in that right--for all people, not just the people who practice my religion," Granato said. "The mosque being built near Ground Zero is an example of that right."
Granato says the Sept. 11 attacks changed the country forever and united Americans and that "we should continue that rebuilding and remain the example that we are to the world of what freedom can accomplish."
