Allen Buckley on Jobs

2004 former Libertarian Senate challenger (GA)

Deductions for foreign labor only to balance foreign sales

My views on jobs: Disallow deductions for foreign labor to the extent that it is, in percentage terms, disproportionately large compared to foreign revenue, in percentage terms.

Allow lower minimum wage for manufacturer profit-sharing

Q: Your stance on manufacturing jobs?

A: Reduce manufacturing minimum wage, but increase the earned income credit to guarantee minimum wage, if the employer agrees to share profits in a substantial manner.

Reduce manufacturing minimum wage & use it to increase EITC

[Buckley is] for disallowing income tax deductions to businesses for foreign labor and services to the extent that such labor and services are, as a percentage of total labor and services cost, disproportionate to the percentage of sales that are foreign sales. Chinese goods should be subject to tariffs unless and until the Yuan is detached from the dollar, so as to place the price of such goods where they would have been but for attachment. [Buckley is] for reducing the minimum wage for manufacturing jobs, but coupling it with an increase in the refundable earned income credit, so as to guarantee at least minimum wage to manufacturing laborers, provided the employer shares profits with manufacturing employees (generally on a 50/50 basis) and agrees to reimburse the IRS for any earned income credit amount it pays to the workers to get them to minimum wage, plus interest.
