As an active member of the LDS church, Scott supports the First Presidency's position on abortion. Scott believes that the procedure should only be performed in the event of rape, incest, or health and life of the mother. He also believes that when a woman is faced with the sad, even tragic choice to end a pregnancy, the decision should only be made after prayerful consultation with her clergy, her family members and her physician. Legal only for rape, incest, or maternal health

Abortions should be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape.
Abortions should be legal when the life of the woman is endangered.
Abortions should be limited by waiting periods and notification requirements as decided by each state government.
