Repeal DOMA; work for LGBT right to marry

As Senator, Alan will work hard to ensure that Massachusetts remains on the right side of history, and that citizens across the country--no matter their sexual orientation--win the right to marry whom they choose, adopt children, and receive the equal benefits and equal wages that all Americans deserve.

As Senator, Alan will work to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, and will meet with leaders in the LGBT community to strategize about how we can build broad-based political support to end this law.<

$5M/year to support women- and minority-owned businesses

Alan supports the creation and growth of women- and minority-owned businesses. He will work with these businesses to develop specific programs designed to help them thrive, including the following:

Establish a Federal Commis support women- and minority-owned businesses. Among other responsibilities, the commission will ensure that current federal participation goals are being fairly and adequately met.
Study the impact of intermediaries like micro-l dedicated to supporting women- and minority-owned businesses to identify best practices and opportunities to grow their scale and impact.
Provide more transition support for businesses that are moving to non-SBA 8(a) status.
