Rebekah Kennedy on Energy & Oil

Green Senate challenger

Support carbon taxes on industry

Q: What is your position on global warming?

A: I strongly support carbon taxes on industry, increased fuel economy and research. Particularly, research in needed to increase the efficiency of solar and wind power collection and storage. Cap and trade could be of some use if those with credits to trade were limited to businesses which one might expect to produce a significant amount of carbon pollution. Otherwise, it will be a pointless shell game. We must increase our investment in public transportation so that millions of Americans are no longer forced to drive to work every day & to fly to destination which ought to be reachable by train. Finally, we must use energy more efficiently. It is time to look at bringing back the 55 mph speed limit and increasing standards for building insulation. The two things we must do are to cut our energy use and to increase the portion of our energy that come from non-carbon emitting true renewable, such as wind and solar.

Dramatic increase in wind, solar and hydro-electric power

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Replace coal and oil with alternatives?"

A: Do Support. I support a dramatic increase in the use of wind, solar and hydro-electric power. I support further research to find efficient non-polluting bio-fuels, but do not support the current use of corn based ethanol.
