Larry Stafford on Immigration

Libertarian challenger

Non-citizens should not receive benefits

Q: If the President signs the Totalization Social Security Agreement with Mexico it could lead to Social Security benefits going to individuals who worked in the U.S. while illegal. Do you support the Totalization Agreement?

A: I don’t support citizens of other nations receiving benefits from a system they haven’t paid into. Once [my other] ideas were implemented, those who are working here (regardless of where they are from) would have control over those funds that they set up for themselves.

Secure our borders immediately

Q: Do you agree with the VoteMatch topic, “Immigration helps our economy--encourage it”?

A: Agree, as long as it is LEGAL immigration. We need to secure our borders immediately... and properly check the backgrounds of all immigrants before allowing. The system does need major improvements in the speed of processing. It should take a few months at most... not years!
