Billy Tauzin III on Education

Former Republican Challenger (LA-3)

Support merit pay for our best and brightest educators

Washington should first fully fund programs like No Child Left Behind and ensure all resources teachers and students need to succeed are in the classroom first. Then, whatever remains could trickle up to Washington for management. We must remember the purpose of education is to educate, not to employ bureaucrats. More money focused where the pencil hits the paper would also mean increased support for strong teachers. I support merit pay for our best & brightest educators, but more money is not enough.
