Legislative Summary:HB947: Gun Industry Accountability Act of 2024: Prohibiting firearm industry members from knowingly creating, maintaining, or contributing to a public nuisance through the sale, manufacture, distribution, importation, or marketing of a firearm-related product under certain circumstances.

Summary by NRA (National Rifle Association) in opposition, April 9, 2024The bill will subject firearm industry members to frivolous lawsuits by creating a civil cause of action for violations. The legislation requires industry members to establish and implement controls based on vague and unenumerated standards of conduct pertaining to the marketing, importation, and distribution of firearms and firearm-related products.
