The current governor has failed to use the unprecedented budget surplus to leverage federal matching assistance (at a 70% federal match rate) to cover the parents in low-income working households whose children now receive coverage under the KidCare
program. Our state should take an aggressive purchasing approach, such as a state-wide purchasing pool that any senior could join to obtain discount prescription drugs; eventually, this program needs to be expanded to the state population as a whole.
