Apply estate tax only to estates over $50 million

I believe that there needs to be some form of estate tax. It simply isn't right that individuals who have done nothing to earn their wealth [except inherit it] should reap such enormous benefits without paying taxes. However, unless there is an exemption for family farmers and small business people we do imperil the backbone of our society. I will not stand for that.

When the Estate Tax was originally established it applied only to the wealthiest Americans. I want to return to that original intent by creating an Estate Tax that only applies to estates of $50 million or more.

I want to reform the estate tax so that it doesn't destroy the best part of the American way of life. I will work toward a fair and progressive estate tax that will only affect a tiny percentage of the wealthiest Americans who can more than afford to pay their fair share. The estate tax should never be punitive to anyone regardless of their wealth.
