Mike Rounds on Technology

Republican SD Governor

Allow Medicare to pay for AI-enabled clinical devices

[On Artificial Intelligence]: "Medicare patients deserve access to the life-changing care that artificial intelligence-enabled devices can offer," said Rounds in a prepared statement. "There is currently no clear Medicare payment system for these devices, meaning that it can take years to be approved and paid out by Medicare accurately. This legislation would create that system, improving diagnoses and encouraging the adoption of AI devices in clinical settings."

Proposes joint cybersecurity effort with Israel

Sen. Rounds, along with Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), introduced the US-Israel Cybersecurity Center of Excellence Act, that would require the State Department to investigate potential benefits of a joint US-Israel cybersecurity center. Said Rounds, "Israel is a world leader in cybersecurity. Partnering with this close ally on a cybersecurity center of excellence, where experts can share best practices and other critical information, can help us bolster the cyber capabilities of both nations."
