Bob Tuke on Drugs

Democratic challenger

Fight drug lords & heroin trafficking in Afghanistan

Today, drug lords in Afghanistan are making record profits in heroin trafficking and are even outsourcing their work to increase the amount of heroin they can process. They already provide 90% of the world's heroin, and their profits are being used to fund Al Qaeda terrorists' efforts around the world, including Iraq. In 2006, the Senate introduced a bill creating a $700 million emergency fund to help combat opium and heroin production, but Senator Alexander voted against the measure and against increased funding to prevent Al Qaeda from benefiting from the heroin trade in Afghanistan.

Bob Tuke will work to end the heroin trade in Afghanistan and cut off funding for Al Qaeda worldwide. Bob Tuke will also work to bring a swift and responsible end to our occupation of Iraq, so we can refocus our military and political strategy towards our Al Qaeda enemies in Afghanistan, where they always have been and still remain nearly seven years after they attacked our citizens on American soil.
