Corey Stapleton on Foreign Policy

Restore America's image and power abroad

Stapleton said he wants to shrink the size of the federal government and return power to the states while increasing institutional strength, specifically in schools. He also thinks that America needs to do better to follow the Constitution. More importantly, he said he wants to lead in a way that can unite the country rather than divide it.

"Because, right now in America, that's how politics, the rhetoric is," he said. "You know, 'The sky is falling. If you don't support me, the sky is falling.' We have a great country, but we have a lot of things that we can do better."

Stapleton said policy priorities for his administration would be immigration reform and restoring America's image and power abroad.

Sustained peace gained by strength of US, European allies

Stapleton stressed the importance of continued U.S. support and encouraged Congress to stand firm with Ukraine, citing the lessons of history. "The diplomatic solution to the Russian-Ukrainian war can be found, but it must involve strength and unity from the West. Similar to the Cold War, sustained peace is gained not by force, but strength and resolve between America and our European allies," Stapleton said.

Two-state solution for Israel like Montana & reservations

On Israel: "Both the Jewish and Palestinian leaders agree that a 'two-state solution' is the only acceptable course. In other words, they each want to have their own country, and be physically separated from each other. In Montana, we refer to our Indian reservations as 'sovereign' in some regards, but in other situations the tribes are treated just like other citizens of the state and nation. I guess we could call it a 'softer' two-state solution."
