21st-century Immigration plan, not walls nor open borders
Bipartisanship could craft a 21st century immigration plan, but this administration chooses to cage children and tear families apart. Compassionate treatment at the border is not the same as open borders. Pres. Reagan understood this. Pres. Obama
understood this. Americans understand this. And Democrats stand ready to effectively secure our borders. But we must all embrace that from agriculture to healthcare to entrepreneurship, America is made stronger by the presence of immigrants--not walls.

Advocates a clean DREAM Act
Immigration: Support DACA, allowing "Dreamers" who arrived illegally as children, then grew up in the US, to achieve legal status if meet certain conditions?
Abrams: Yes. Advocates a clean DREAM Act legislation with path to citizenship.
Kemp: No. End DACA, which "provides amnesty for illegal immigrants--many of whom are adults, not children, & includes those with criminal records."
Immigration: Support path to citizenship for America's 11 million illegal immigrants?
Abrams: No stand found.
Kemp: No. In ad, said he wants to round up "criminal illegals" in his pickup & take them home himself. Will crack down on illegal immigration.

Colleges need not act as immigration enforcement officers
HB 37: Would prohibit any private postsecondary institution eligible for tuition equalization grants from implementing a sanctuary policy. Sanctuary policies restrict employees' cooperation with federal and state officials or law enforcement officers
reporting immigration status information. Any private postsecondary institution that refuses to cooperate may lose state funding or state-administered federal funding, which includes scholarship funds received by students of the institution.
MY VOTE: NO. Institutions of higher learning should not be compelled to act as immigration enforcement officers for any branch of government. More concerning, if the institution violates the policy, all students would be punished.
For example, if a school violates the policy, any HOPE Grant recipient could lose his or her funding, regardless of immigration status.
