Oppose making English an official language

We oppose all efforts to declare English an official language and call for an end to all language discrimination. We demand that all public and private institutions provide services and materials in the languages of their communities.

Longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights; in first march in 1979

A longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights, Gloria participated in the first National March for Lesbian and Gay rights in 1979 and subsequent national marches. She joined in the marches and rallies protesting the passage of the anti- marriage equality Prop 8 in California.

Affirmative action is under attack just when redress began

Affirmative action and equal education are under attack by the ruling class and its governments at federal and state levels. Affirmative action, which had barely begun to redress the gross inequalities suffered by oppressed nationalities and women, has been rolled back, gutted and repealed outright in many areas.

We demand that the Black community be compensated fully, with interest, for the historical racism and wrongs forced upon them by capitalist America.

Equal marriage rights for all LGBT

A mass struggle by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people is currently raging over same-sex marriage and the entitlement of same-sex couples to equal rights and benefits. The La Riva/Puryear presidential campaign demands full equality for LGBT people. All forms of discrimination and bigotry must end, including the repeal of all discriminatory laws. The reactionary Defense of Marriage Act must be overturned. We are for equal marriage rights for everyone.

Pay reparations, with interest, for slavery

Since its inception, US society has been marked by extreme racism. At least 12 million Africans were kidnapped and forcibly taken to the Americas as slaves. The capitalist economic system in the US was built largely on the backs of slave labor.

We demand that the Black community be compensated fully, with interest, for the historical racism and wrongs forced upon them by capitalism. The wealth stolen from Black people by corporations, institutions and the government must be repaid in full.
