$100,000 reward for convicting for harming DEA agents

Roemer co-sponsored H.R.2013, the Federal Drug Law Enforcement Agent Protection Act of 1985, which amends the Controlled Substances Act to authorize awards of up to $100,000 to any individual who provides original information which leads to the arrest and conviction of a person who kidnaps or kills a Federal drug law enforcement agent. Provides that the money for such rewards be taken from the forfeiture proceeds within the Department of Justice.

Legalize medical marijuana

Roemer co-sponsored H.R.2232, amendment to the Controlled Substances Act, which transfers marihuana from schedule I (abuse potential, no accepted medical use) to schedule II (accepted medical use) under such Act. Establishes procedures for the production and use of medical marihuana. Permits the distribution of medical marihuana only to hospitals and pharmacies registered to dispense schedule II controlled substances for the purposes of treating glaucoma or cancer or approved research.
