John Hager on Technology

Former Republican Primary Candidate VA Governor

Tax incentives for telecommuting

In northern Virginia, 11% of the regional workforce telecommutes. An estimated 60% of workers in the region could telecommute if their employers allowed. To take workers off the roads during rush hours, Hager supports giving businesses tax incentives to allow employees to telecommute and/or work flexible schedules. The Commission’s report will also advocate accelerated installation of intelligent transportation system technologies, such as real-time traffic reports and traffic light synchronization.

Tax incentives for digital infrastructure

There should be no digital divide in the Silicon Dominion. John Hager is committed to spreading the dynamic opportunity of high-tech business and communications all across the state. He proposes tax incentives and public-private partnerships to accelerate the availability of high-speed Internet connections throughout the state. We should consider targeted tax incentives to encourage telecommunications companies to deliver broadband infrastructure to rural and less populated areas of Virginia
