In northern Virginia, 11% of the regional workforce telecommutes. An estimated 60% of workers in the region could telecommute if their employers allowed. To take workers off the roads during rush hours, Hager supports giving businesses tax incentives
to allow employees to telecommute and/or work flexible schedules. The Commission’s report will also advocate accelerated installation of intelligent transportation system technologies, such as real-time traffic reports and traffic light synchronization.
