Reform Party on Budget & Economy

Party Platform

Transportation & infrastructure are critical to our success

Mass transit, public and private transportation and our overall infrastructure are critical to our continued success as a nation. The Reform Party would open a dialogue with the American people on what their transportation needs are. If we focus on the essential needs of the American people, our long-term strategic needs as well as costs, we can develop a plan that will lead to a better transportation system.

Fiscal responsibility with accountability without loopholes

The Reform Party SUPPORTS fiscal responsibility with accountability. Fiscal responsibility with accountability means that the Federal Government puts an end to the historical cycle of deficit spending and does so with commitment to "accountability without loopholes" to guarantee responsible budgets. As of 2010, our nation is spending $3.72 Trillion on federal programs and services per year, but we are only taking in $2.165 Trillion in revenue.

We believe that Congress must adjust federal budgets so that we pay for all the federal programs and services that are absolutely required. We need to fundamentally reform the Federal Budget and budget process, review all departments and agencies, eliminate overlapping jurisdiction over services, and base budgetary decisions on cost effectiveness and critical need.
