Amend the federal constitution to ban gay marriage

LINCOLN: “Domestic laws have always been dealt with by our states,” Lincoln said, noting that the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act denies federal recognition of same-sex marriages and offers states the right to refuse to recognize them. “Amending the federal constitution ... should only be as a last resort,” Lincoln said.

HOLT: Holt said marriage is one of the fundamental pillars of society and he fears that a judge might rule Arkansas’ law unconstitutional. He also said he opposes activist judges, such as those who have ruled in favor of gay marriage. Without a federal amendment defining marriage, Holt said, “our country will fall.”

The Patriot Act is misnamed and should be greatly amended

I think the Patriot Act is misnamed. In America a patriot is someone who supports the ideals that America was founded on. Some of the act’s provisions are unconstitutional. It’s not patriotic to support undermining the constitution. I don’t want to give up my real freedom for the empty promise of security. Benjamin Franklin perhaps said it best, that those who would sacrifice liberty for their security deserve neither. I don’t like the secret house searches that they can do without telling you they have been there. I don’t like the fuzzy, expandable definition of who might be a “terrorist.” It has already been used on a non-terrorist. It was used on a shady politician. Some people may think that is OK too, but we are on a slippery slope here. I don’t like provisions that may be used to intrude on the privacy of people’s e-mail without a warrant. I don’t like the idea of federal agents being able to investigate churches on a “hunch” without prior approval from their superiors.

English should be the official language themselves

A nation fractured into language-communities cannot be considered sufficiently united. Though there are countries that manage to hold several language-communities together inside of one nation, such countries rarely, if ever, achieve anything significant in comparison to those that enjoy a single language. It is also NOT fair to immigrants NOT to strongly encourage them to speak America’s language. It hinders them in earning a living and makes their opportunity for the American dream greatly reduced.

Define marriage as a union between a man and a woman

Even if there was no god, the laws of nature tell us that homosexual unions are not natural. No homosexual can reproduce. They can only recruit. If the law of ‘survival of the fittest’ applied in this instance their existence could not continue.

Support an Amendment barring gay marriage

If four over-reaching Massachusetts judges were not trying to impose homosexual marriage on the rest of America, I’d say the definition of marriage should not be placed in the US Constitution. Unfortunately these arrogant left leaning judges are trying to not only change our laws, but now they’re trying to change the laws of nature. The way the Constitution is written, we have a “Full Faith and Credit” clause. It says every state must honor the contracts of another.

Allowing gay marriage is disastrous

Government rewards what it seeks to promote. We should not promote the unhealthy lifestyle of homosexuality. Those practicing homosexuality have life spans that are decades lower than the national average, and have extremely high rates of suicide, depression, alcoholism, & drug abuse. Moreover, with the short span of a ‘committed’ homosexual relationship being an average of one and a half to two years, the increased burden on our legal system from the corresponding ‘divorces’ would be a nightmare.
