Hillary Clinton: Support our NATO allies and take vetted Syrian refugees

SANDERS: I went to a Turkish refugee camp on the border of Syria. What a sad sight: Men, women, children forced out of their homes. Turkey did a decent thing, providing reasonable housing and conditions for people. Given our history as a nation that has been a beacon of hope for the oppressed, for the downtrodden, that I very strongly disagree with those Republican candidates who say we've got to turn our backs on women and children who left their home with nothing. That is not what America is supposed to be about. I think that the entire world needs to come together to deal with this horrific refugee crisis.

CLINTON: This is a humanitarian catastrophe. The US has to support our allies in Europe. We have to provide financial support. We have to provide the NATO support to back up the mission that is going on. And we have to take properly vetted refugees ourselves.

Hillary Clinton: Haters should realize that American Muslims can help us

After 9/11, one of the efforts we did in New York was if you see or hear something suspicious, report it. We need to do that throughout the country. We need to understand that American Muslims are on the front line of our defense. They are more likely to know what's happening in their communities, and they need to welcomed in American society. When somebody like Donald Trump stirs up the demagoguery against American Muslims, that hurts us at home. It's not only offensive; it's dangerous.

Q: Should Wisconsin participate in the federal REAL ID program?

A: No.

[Note: The federal REAL ID program establishes stricter controls over licensing and identification papers, to enforce against terrorism and illegal immigration. All 50 states have waivers to avoid enforcement, however.]

Leah Vukmir: Address disgraceful neglect at Veterans Affairs

Leah Vukmir is a blue star mother. Her son Nicholas is currently serving our country as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. Leah knows that how we treat our bravest reflects on our character as a nation.

She was appalled to learn of the widespread mismanagement and disgraceful neglect that has taken place at Veterans Affairs and angered by the way Senator Tammy Baldwin failed our veterans at Tomah.

Mike Gallagher: Reform the VA to ensure our veterans have access to benefits

We must honor our veterans for their service and sacrifice. Time and time again, we hear stories about how the VA has utterly failed to care for the men and women who voluntarily put themselves in harm's way to defend our country. It is long past time to reform the VA with true accountability, transparency, & choice. I am committed to fighting every single day to ensure our veterans have access to their benefits and receive appropriate care and treatment. We made a solemn promise and we must keep it.

Ron Johnson: Grateful to the 1 million who have died defending the US

Ron is deeply grateful for the more than 1 million men and women who have died and the millions who have been wounded while supporting and defending the Constitution since ratification. Ron will ensure that America's finest sons and daughters are not sent into harm's way to defend America's interests until diplomatic, economic and other instruments of national power are first exhausted.

Ron will fight to ensure that if servicemen and women are needed to protect America's interests, they will be deployed with rules of engagement that allow them to accomplish their mission and allow them their most basic rule of self defense. Ron will never endanger our men and women in uniform by voting to place artificial withdrawal timelines on our deployed forces. [Source: ronjohnsonforsenate.com/home ]

Sarah Godlewski: Worked with Pentagon on variety of projects

Her time working with the Pentagon included developing language and culture capabilities, creating a medical services strategy for the Air Force, and addressing soldier morale. Sarah's work in national security and foreign affairs continued as she was a member of a Bipartisan Congressional PTSD Task Force--a group that provided recommendations on how DoD and VA can better support military members, veterans, and their families.

Scott Walker: Support for our military transcends partisan differences

Let's remember what unites us and makes us strong. Here in Wisconsin, support for the Packers transcends political, religious, and personal differences. Heck, I was sitting a row ahead and a few seats over from a guy on Sunday who didn't care much for my policies. I told him we were all Packer fans there, and by the end of the game, we were high-fiving another Green Bay victory. Green and gold runs deep.

Here in America, support for our military transcends those same differences. That wasn't always the case, but thankfully, we learned from our past transgressions. We support our men and women in uniform and we thank our veterans. Red, white, and blue runs even deeper.

Tammy Baldwin: Jason's Law: stop over-prescribing opioids at VA hospitals

Vukmir criticized Baldwin over her response to the opioid scandal at the Tomah Veterans Affairs Medical Center. "Tammy Baldwin let our veterans down at the Tomah VA," said Vukmir. "To have known that a doctor was over-prescribing opioids, a veteran died and many others became addicted, to me, it's unconscionable."

The Tomah VA was wracked several years ago by a scandal involving over-prescription of opioids. Baldwin disciplined top aides for bungling whistleblower complaints about the facility, including sitting on an inspector general's report. Since then, Baldwin co-sponsored legislation, "Jason's Law," that toughened opioid prescription guidelines and pushes education for VA providers.

The Baldwin campaign responded to Vukmir's criticism with a statement from a veteran, who said: "Tammy wrote and fought to pass Jason's Law, which helps stop the over-prescribing of opioids at the VA and holds the VA accountable. That's leadership Wisconsin veterans need."

Tammy Baldwin: Full federal benefits to National Guard COVID fighters

Duckworth wrote to Trump expressing concern that his order to extend National Guard Title 32 authority for 89 days in response to COVID-19 precludes troops from qualifying for additional federal benefits. "Activated troops serving on the front lines of this pandemic should be focused solely on the response to this national Public Health Emergency and not on the status of their Federal benefits. The Federal Government should do more to ensure these public servants are properly taken care of."

Eric Hovde: DOD is the most wasteful and corrupt agency in history

While I agree 100% that one of the top purposes for the government, the federal government in particular, is security, I can not agree with an $847 billion dollar price tag while the incumbent screams from the rooftops about the debt created by the last administration, who he endorsed. The DOD is the most wasteful and corrupt agency in the history of the world and the spending therefore needs to be more conservative.
