Eric Fingerhut: The prescription plan is deeply flawed and to be reworked

VOINOVICH: Voinovich said seniors are already receiving discounts of 30 percent or more and the program will improve in 2006 when it is fully implemented. At that point, low-income seniors will get a $600 voucher to help with their drug needs.

FINGERHUT: Fingerhut countered that the program is "deeply flawed" and needs to be dramatically reworked. He criticized Voinovich for voting against reimportation of drugs from Canada and allowing the government to negotiate prices with drugmakers.

Without access to affordable health care, too many Ohioans have to drive anywhere from 50 to 100 miles for basic health care, and when people change jobs they wonder what benefits will be lost. This is wrong. As governor, John will open new rural health centers with a focus on primary health care so that all Ohioans will be able to find quality and affordable care.
